Writing a Social Media Blog for Window Film Magazine

Window Film Magazine asked me recently to begin writing a series of blogs on how to properly utilize social media to promote your business. These were designed to be very basic blogs that can teach people the basics of jumping into social media. I would love to hear some feedback on the four blog entries that I have already written.

Thanks in advance for the feedback. I hope that all of you are having a great Summer!

After 2 days, Mees was tired of Pat!

These are some photos from the recent PRSM Show in Orlando, FL. Jim Mannix from 3M came to assist us in manning the booth. We had a great turnout and are looking forward to working with the many new vendors we met over the 2 days.

Many of you had been asking about the differences between all the different turbo style squeegees for sale on the market right now. This video was shot to describe the primary differences and uses between the Turbo and Power Stroke squeegees and why you would use one durometer over another. Hope you enjoy it.

I have been seeing so many people that I know making big mistakes using social media to promote their business. You need to treat social media like a cocktail party and work the room. You cannot just start up a Facebook Fanpage and start spamming people with info and offers from your company. If you went to a cocktail party and immediately started to hard sell everyone in the room when you spoke to them, you would quickly become the least popular guy in the room. When you start using social media and immediately begin pumping your company before you even join the conversation, you are doing the same thing. Guess what? You will quickly become the least popular person in social media if you do that as well.

Had a discussion where someone said that they ran a “real” business and did not have time for social media. I thought that was humorous, but very disturbing that many still look at it that way.

I thought that I would post some pictures of the current Service Group Distribution location in Fullerton, California. We are rapidly outgrowing our space here. We need more office space, warehouse space and room for a training center. We also carry a full line of tools from Zola Distributing. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by and check us out.

Sort of late on posting this, but this was a picture taken during one of the excellent training sessions at the recent 3M Prestige Dealer meeting in Phoenix, Arizona. There were roughly 250 in attendance and there was a positive buzz in the air. The meeting had a great mix of education, entertainment and networking. General consensus was that the meeting went well and the mood was upbeat by all in attendance that I spoke with. It looks like 2010 is going to be a great year for 3M Prestige Dealers.
